My neighborhood (Willow Glen) has a new Greek restaurant, Opa!, which gets a good review from the Metro. I like this phrase (and think it's true) - that Opa!
"occupies the sweet spot between fast food and fine dining"
I actually read that review right there - I was working from home on Thursday, and decided to lunch there, since it's just around the corner from my house. Picked up the latest Metro, and wuddaya know! There it was.
They opened six weeks ago or so, and I've gone three times already, always for a late-ish lunch. All three days were sunny, and twice I scored one of the two outside tables, and could let the autumn sun shine on my face.
I really like this place. The food is great (I'd describe it as California Greek), it's beautifully presented and shows up quickly, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. Oh, and they're open from 11 to 11. I haven't been there for dinner yet, but it's good to know they stay open late - most other establishments on Lincoln Avenue close at 9 on a school night, and at 10 even on the weekends.
Ooh! We went there to get take out for the final pres debate and ended up chatting with the owner/head chef for a bit - he's super nice! Our food was good - spicy feta dip YUM and we'll definitely be back.
They're getting popular, too - it was raining on Saturday and the two outdoor tables were still in use!
