I finished all my Austin-purchased books while I was still in town. Nine Layers of Sky was the last of the three, a science-fiction story set in Kazakhstan, the protagonist a former cosmonaut who has been out of an expert job since the Mir space station program was cut. She find herself in the middle of a fight between two worlds, and in the presence of mythical figures she does not believe in.
Unlike anything I've read before, richly told. I didn't realize until a few days later that a couple of questions remained unanswered, and I am hoping for a sequel.
