The Bali "Hastings" Hai pool officially opened yesterday, and I was invited to attend the festivities. What a great-looking backyard: pool, spa, jungle foliage, monster grill, Tiki Bar sign, and Hawaiian patio under a gazebo. I kept saying I just wanted to move in, and believe you me, I was only half-kidding.
And what a great party! Lots of women, children, and dogs, and most of them in the pool. (I stayed out of the pool because of my fresh war wound ... I hope to make a splash next time.) I don't hang out with this crowd nearly enough - there were several people I hadn't seen in a long time: Jeanne got married. Kelly and Elizabeth had a second baby. And Terrie is in Portland working at Nike.
I've been pondering this downside of being the social butterfly that I am - I get along with most people, and hang out on with lots of different groups, usually on the edges rather than in the inner circle. And so I see lots of people only sporadically. My life is a series of intermittens. (Yes, Virginia, I know that's not a real word.)
