Fling makes a list of songs about breathing, and when I search my iTunes library for tunes with "breath" in the title, it comes up with ten matches. They are:
R.E.M., Try Not To Breathe
This is from "Automatic for the People", the 1992 album that holds my all-time favorite R.E.M. song, Nightswimming. One of those melancholy songs that is perfect for the seasonal mood.
Depeche Mode, Breathe
From 2001's "Exciter", which will always remind me of the vacation in Tuscany where I listened to it over and over and over. Good times. Good times. Sad story (the song, not the vacation).
Evanescence, My Last Breath
The wonderful voice of Amy Lee, from their 2003 debut album, "Fallen". One of my favorite albums of that year.
Duncan Sheik, Barely Breathing
The version I have is from a KFOG Live from the Archives CD from 1998. Catchy song, but I heard it a few too many times on the radio.
Maria McKee, Breathe
My favorite track from her 1989 self-titled album. Not the same song as Depeche Mode's "Breathe". Or the two "Breathe" songs that Fling quotes.
Jethro Tull, Locomotive Breath
Not much to say about this one, really. A classic.
Maroon 5, Harder To Breathe
Their big hit single from "Songs for Jane". I have not tired of it yet.
Toni Braxton, Breathe Again
This takes me back to 1993. And I don't really want to go there. I like the song, but I don't listen to it much any more.
Berlin, Take My Breath Away
From the TopGun soundtrack, of course. Tom Cruise shagging Kelly McGillis.
Garbage, The Trick Is To Keep Breathing
An oft-heard tune. One of my favorite Garbage tracks, from Version 2.0. And it's true - that really is the trick. Not always easily accomplished.
