Found this at Jen's place:
1. Go To Mapquest.com
2. Click on Directions
3. Enter your Current Address and the address of your childhood home (or at least the town if you don't remember the exact address)
4. Put the time and distance in a post like this.
5. Don't forget to repost these directions. (Not the door to door ones!)
Total Est. Time: ...
Total Est. Distance: ...
From [childhood home] to [current address]
Now this is a bit trickier to do for me, because my hometown is in Germany, and Mapquest does not let me do directions from Europe to North America. Tell you what I'll do ... I'll go in two steps:
1. from my hometown to London Heathrow Airport
2. from New York JFK Airport to my current address
1. From Walldürn to Heathrow Airport:
Estimated Time: 10 hours, 6 minutes
Estimated Distance: 551.80 miles
2. From JFK Airport to San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood:
Estimated Time: 44 hours, 16 minutes
Estimated Distance: 2962.62 miles
Add 7 hours 50 minutes for a flight across the 3471 miles from London to New York, and we have a grand total of
Total Estimated Time: 62 hours, 12 minutes
Total Estimated Distance: 5985.42 miles
You have time for this and not for my poetry meme? Hrrumph! :P :)

44 hours from JFK is pretty optimistic.. I drove from San jose to detroit, and it took me 44 hours, (6 hours of sleep included in there) - and it's another 8-10 hours (minimum) to NYC.

Maybe it takes into account that I'm an Autobahn-trained German. ;^)
