What a spectacle. Bizarre, freakish, fascinating, stark, and stylized. I really enjoyed it, and even though I didn't care for some of the shriller tones, they fit into the piece perfectly.
Most of what I could tell you has already been said much better by professional writers, so I'll point you there:
"He's not Marianne Faithfull" by Edward Guthmann, SF Chronicle
"a sensual narcotic" by Erika Milvy, Press Democrat
"a strange, wondrous spectacle" by Pat Craig, Contra Costa Times
'this "musical fable" is astounding' by Lady Rapunza, audience review.
A sunny drive up 280 to San Francisco, the closing show of the Black Rider, dinner at EOS, and the company of my friend Janet - I could get used to days like this!
