Monday Music for you: Max Raabe und das Palastorchester, singing "In einer kleinen Konditorei". Raabe is a recommendation from Heather Chapman The Mother Tongue, whom I met at BlogHer. Thanks for the tip, Heather! I had heard some of his music before, mostly the German songs from the Thirties, like this one.
KFOG has been my radio station of choice for most of my years here in the Bay Area. They do a lot for their fans, and for the community at large, and I am delighted to see them use more social networking and community tools. I follow them on twitter and we're friends on Facebook, but I hadn't realized until I heard them say it this morning, that they also use YouTube. Lots of great clips from the concerts they sponsor (this David Gray clip is from the Concert for Kids a couple of years ago), check them out!
Monday Music for you - looking ahead to tomorrow's Bastille Day, here's Jacques Brel performing "Ne me quitte pas" - for my money, still one of the finest songs ever written, by one of the best poets of the French language.
(Don't be afraid of the French - as you can see, this clip has English subtitles translating the lyrics.)
