The Dark Of The Matinee

Found this questionnaire at the Vorspeisenplatte, and couldn't resist.

1. Name a movie you have seen more than 10 times
Hmmmm, ten times? Five times or more, I could think of a few. Ten times ... not sure. Maybe Dangerous Liaisons. Or Groundhog Day. Or maybe L.A. Story. Oh, and of course the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

2. Name a movie you’ve seen multiple times in the theater
Finding Nemo. Three times in one week.

3. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie
Burt Lancaster. I think he's the manliest man in movie history.

4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie
Billy Bob Thornton. I find him annoying.

5. Name a movie you can and do quote from.
The Princess Bride. Incontheivable!

6. Name a movie musical in which you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs
ALL the lyrics? None. The West Side Story comes closest.

7. Name a movie you have been known to sing along with
West Side Story. When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dying day ...

8. Name a movie you would recommend everyone see
Groundhog Day.

9. Name a movie you own
The Wild Women of Wongo.

10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops
Mark Wahlberg.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in?
Yes, but sadly, never with Joe Bob.

12. Ever made out in a movie?
Yes, but sadly, never with Joe Bob.

13. Name a movie you keep meaning to see but you just haven’t gotten around to yet
There's always a few that keep slipping by me. But these days, with HBO and TiVo and DVDs to rent, you can usually catch up, so I don't really mind. It's just movies ... no need to get my knickers in a twist.

14. Ever walked out of a movie?
I walked out of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I love - but not the way it is watched in the United States, with act-alongs and call-and-response shouting over the lyrics I came to hear. That's one I'll gladly watch on DVD at home - or see it again in Munich, at the Museum-Lichtspiele, where it's been running for 30 years.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater
Most recently, Pan's Labyrinth.

16. Popcorn?
Occasionally. Usually I go empty-handed.

17. How often do you go to the movies
I was going to say about once a month, but this year, I've already seen 20 movies, and April isn't even done.

18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
Blades of Glory.

19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
Depends on my mood - I like light popcorn fare, thoughtful literary adaptations, action, and foreign nonsense.

20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
Pippi Langstrumpf.

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
I dunno ... can't think of one.

Ooops ... forgot a few. Here's three more:

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Being John Malkovich. Working on the 7 1/2th floor to "save overhead" and find a portal into John Malkovich's brain ... how on earth do you come up with something like that?

23. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen?
The film about the Boston Stranglers, these two guys who pretended to be cops, and abducted, tortured and killed women. I always thought it could happen to me ... I wouldn't know if a police badge was real or fake. Scared me more than any horror flick.

24. What is the funniest film you have ever seen?
Depends on what kind of humor I'm in the mood for. L.A. Story is always a good bet.
