Nice To Be Here

Good turnout tonight at the Blogger Meetup!
Hank, Rich, David, Fling93, Jon, and Silvia were already there when I showed up at 7:30, and Silvia had brought her friend Eric, a new addition to our circle.

And no sooner had I shown up than two distinguished members of our group made an appearance after looooong absences. Not that we blame them for having lives away from us, but it sure was very very nice to see Guy and Mark!

Antwon and Dahlia rounded out the dozen, and beside the usual geekery and books and movies and music, we congratulated Rich on his birthday, talked about a killing much too close to home, and the student film festival at De Anza College this Friday. Mark regaled us with tales of remodeling woes. When I asked him what to read next, he recommended "Copies in Seconds: How a Lone Inventor and an Unknown Company Created the Biggest Communication Breakthrough Since Gutenberg--Chester Carlson and the Birth of Xerox" which I already put in my amazon.com shopping cart. Oh, and he taunted us with the possibility of a party at his office to see his 914 copier. (Did I get that number right? I know nothing about the history of copiers. Not until after I've read that book.)

In more book news, Hank let me borrow a recent sci-fi read, which I'm very much looking forward to. And he told me about the Serenity countdown widget that I'm sure Dita would love. That is if she doesn't have it already.

A good time was had by all - we stayed until they kicked us out at 10pm, and then we lingered and talked and laughed in front of the place for another hour or so.

Good times. Good times.

Apologies to those of you patiently waiting for more political commentary. I still have loads to say, I’m just still feeling a bit burned out from the Poli Sci class (and yes, I got an A, so I guess the prof did like my term paper), and work is s... [Read More]
