Same guys, same setup - just four chairs, four guys sitting down with their guitars, taking turns singing songs and telling stories. They all played a great mix of songs I was well familiar with, and songs I'd not heard before (John Hiatt played two tunes he just recorded; he said the album would be out in June), they invited a friend on stage to play two songs, and they took requests - Lyle Lovett was in the midst of telling a story and tuning his guitar for his next song when a woman in the audience yelled out "On A Boat!", and he paused and said, "Okay!", retuned and played "If I Had A Boat".
I loved it all (even though Lyle didn't play my favorite, "Simple Song", or John Hiatt "Perfectly Good Guitar"), and I've been listening to John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett all day today.
