With A Little Help From My Friends
Back to meetup.com for our monthly Blogger meetings. They've added a bunch of features, and have made the setup more flexible for older, established groups like ours, so we can meet where, when, and as often as we want. Every group has an organizer, and I've signed up to be our local ring leader. We'll see where it takes us ...
So we're back at our standard haunt, the Coffee Society, at 7pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and most of the usual suspects showed up: Tom, Rich, Silvia, David, Courtney, Kevin, Jon, Buzz, and yours truly. One face was new to me - Eli, who says he really needs to update his blog. Or maybe he meant his blog.
Ealasaid, Antwon, and Mark are all out of town this week, and Fling93 has a Wednesday night class this semester, but they'll all be back, I'm sure.
We talked politics, geek stuff, and pop culture like we always do. Rich showed us a list of his 100 favorite movies - he wrote this in 1997 or 98 if I recall correctly, and he wondered how much it had changed. I thought that was a neat idea - write such a list every five years or so, and see what's added, what's dropped, what moves up or down over time.
Kevin was freshly back from a tour of Asia.
Tom brought some company shwag - T-shirts, pens, and self-heating coffee mugs. Always a hit with us nerds. :-)
Buzz is moving to San Francisco, but since he works in Cupertino, I hope he'll put in at least an occasional appearance with us South Bayers.
Sure, I'll be back... but can't you have a meeting here and there that's not on Wednesdays? I thought the new and improved and warmer and fuzzier meetup.com allowed local chapters to adjust the meetup dates?
Man, I have a long list of my favorite movies on my Palm, but I haven't updated it for a couple of years...

Yes, we'll do that, not to worry. I have all kinds of evil plans for this group. :^)

Thanx for calling me a nerd. And yes, Rich's movie list was definitely one highlight of the evening. I wonder how far "Gone with the Wind" moved down on his list in the meantime :-)

I have posted my 100 favorite movies on Sad Salvation. I did not realize it was a highlight of the night.
