German blogger Don Dahlmann asked these questions recently. I liked this questionnaire so much, I'm answering them again in English. I know you want to answer them too - go right ahead! Bonus points for linking to his post, or leaving a comment with a link to your answers.
1. How are you?
Pretty good. Bit cold. Fall is here today.
2. What was your last meal?
Chicken breast, veggies, and mashed potatoes.
3. What are you drinking right now?
Nothing. I'm still full from dinner, no room even for water.
4. Ever had Vanilla/Cherry Coke?
I think so. I'm not entirely sure. Which means it wasn't all that memorable.
5. CNN? Local news? MSNBC? Daily Show?
I'm a Daily Show kinda girl. That, and The Onion is all the news I need.
6. Last time you laughed? About what?
About my silly ideas for my novel.
7. Worst idiosyncrasy?
I hate fabric on my teeth. Makes me wince.
8. Did you have to look up the word from question seven?
I did. Did for the German questionnaire, and again now; just in case the English meaning was slightly different (which it is).
[Postscript: Here is a good illustration of the most common meaning.]
9. Last time you insulted someone?
I don't remember. I don't usually insult people on purpose, and you never know if you do it inadvertently.
10. Last time you thought about sex?
Just a couple of hours ago, watching Coppola's blatantly and deliberately oversexed "Dracula".
11. Last time you gave someone a gift? What was it?
Does the trick-or-treat Halloween candy count?
12. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or gooseberries?
I like all berries. Rasp are my current favorites - velvety and sweet. Yumm.
13. Do you love somebody?
I love my friends a lot. A "special someone"? Not recently.
14. Next to which celebrity would you like to be buried?
Frank Zappa.
15. Last time you were jealous? Why?
I don't remember. Gawd, am I an old fart or what? I don't remember shit!
16. Last computer crash?
It's been a while. My new Powerbook with Mac OS X has yet to crash on me.
17. Ever look at porn on the net?
Sure, every once in a while.
18. And?
Most of it seems pretty silly.
19. Paid your taxes?
Not this year. Made no money, paid no taxes.
20. All of them? Honest now!
I think so.
21. Best closing sentence of a book?
I like the ending of Camus' "The Stranger". It's something like "Now all I need in order to be happy is lots of strangers at my execution who will greet me with cries of hate." (It sounds much better when Camus says it; trust me.)
[PS much later: this is how he says it:
"As if that blind rage had washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first time, in that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world. Finding it so much like myself - so like a brother, really - I felt that I had been happy and that I was happy again. For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate."]
22. Your first concert?
I don't remember. Probably a local band.
23. Your last?
The Bridge School Benefit. That was pretty darn cool.
24. You won $10,000. You can either keep it all, or donate it all to Doctors without Borders. What do you do? (Honest now!)
I'd keep it; I'm pretty broke right now.
25. Sunburn or frostbite?
Sunburn. I turn into a lobster in about 3 minutes.
26. High or low blood pressure?
Fair median.
27. Do you sleep by the wall or by the edge?
In the middle.
28. Last time you cried?
Two nights ago, reading Stoppard's play "The Invention of Love": "I would have died for you. But I never had the luck." Gets me every time.
29. Last time at the cemetery?
Last year, with my mother, at my father's and grandparents' grave.
30. Last time you could have burst with happiness?
That was a while ago ... I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was this spring, after a job interview that went particularly well. (I got into last rounds, then I got turned down.)
31. Alone or lonely?
Little bit of both these days. Seems like winter is approaching ...
32. Current favorite CD?
According to my iTunes playcount, Evanescence's "Fallen".
33. Last TV show?
A rerun of Saturday Night Live on Comedy Central.
34. What are you still ashamed of?
Awww man, do I have to tell ... it's a long list.
35. Hope or trust?
Little bit of both.
I've always been a Mac fiend. Having worked at Apple for several years also helps to be thoroughly brainwashed. I love my Powerbook!
